Lancaster Catholic is looking to improve on a 7-5 record last season. Coach Chris Maiorino (left, below) says "expectations are to to get better each and every day. There's excitement about the talent coming back."

That talent includes running back Brandon Way Jr., a Villanova commit. He's coming off a big season when he rushed for 1,816 yards and scored 28 touchdowns. The Crusaders will be looking for Way to lead the way on offense.

He says his team goal is to "win as much as we can." Personally, he wants "to give his all and finish the season with no regrets." Way says the team has bonded over the summer and is working hard on team chemistry and togetherness. Way admires NFL stars Saquon Barkley and Jahmyr Gibbs.

Way was among several Crusaders to attend LNP | Lancaster Online Football Media Day at its downtown Lancaster office to connect local media with Lancaster-Lebanon League football players and coaches.

Teammates attending the media session included (from left, below) defensive end Trenton Moore, wide receiver Colton Hegener and offensive lineman Koby Myers. The players say they are excited for the season.

Myers says it's a strong section won last year by Schuylkill Valley, but he hopes to be "a leader for the younger players."  Schuylkill Valley is led by former Crusaders Coach Bruce Harbaugh.

Lancaster Catholic opens its season at Camp Hill Aug. 22.
