Lancaster County Sports Hall of Fame announced its 2025 award winners at a Hall of Fame night at the Lancaster Stormers, where Volunteer Award winner Ken Gerber threw a first pitch.

The Stormers posted banquet information and photos of award winners on the giant video board before the game. 

The Hall of Fame will recognize its 2025 honorees at its banquet Wednesday, Oct. 22, at the Eden Resort. Ticket information and more at lancastersportshalloffame.com/banquet.

Lancaster County Sports Hall of Fame again has contributed to local organizations serving youth. 

• Aaron's Acres of Lancaster.
• Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster.
• Challenger of Lancaster County Little League.
• Greystone Manor Therapeutic Riding Center
• Schreiber Center for Pediatric Development

The organization also contributed to LCTV 66 and 717 Sports Media.

On a night when many of the award winners spoke of athletic achievements at J.P. McCaskey High School, the diversity of this year's class of honorees was a more obvious theme at the annual Lancaster County Sports Hall of Fame banquet held before more than 300 people at the Eden Resort.

First the sports -- women's basketball, tennis, softball, swimming, football, men's basketball, track and field, youth baseball, field hockey, lacrosse and parasports.

The organization also used the night to promote this year's banquet as the Stormers posted banquet information on the giant video board before the game.

"E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles" shouted 150 members of the Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster as injured Eagles linebacker Nakobe Dean entered the clubhouse.

In an encounter organized by Kegel's Produce, which hosted Dean during the day, club members were able to ask questions, receive an autographed photo and have their photo taken with the NFL athlete.

Dean, from Horn Lake, Mississippi, told the youngsters he grew up with a Boys and Girls Club. "When I see you, I see myself."

Lancaster County Sports Hall of Fame added two organizations serving county youths to its donations in 2023. Supported for the first time with $1,000 gifts are:

• Greystone Manor Therapeutic Riding Center
• Schreiber Center for Pediatric Development

Local achievement clearly was the theme of this year's Lancaster County Sports Hall of Fame banquet at the Eden Resort. Of the 9 people honored only Pittsburgh Steelers fullback Dan Kreider, a Manheim Central grad, significantly boosted his sports credentials outside the county, and he spoke more about his days as a Baron than of the NFL.

Section 5 of Clipper Magazine Stadium certainly was the most enthusiastic on this Lancaster Barnstormers game night. That's where close to 90 youngsters from the Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster were cheering on the home team. A visit from mascot Cylo generated the most excitement.

Youth Night was hosted by Lancaster County Sports Hall of Fame, which provided admission and a gift card for food or souvenirs with the help of the Barnstormers.

Hall of Fame chairman Jack Neal called the night, postponed from earlier in the season, a thorough success.

The Hall of Fame will formally recognize its 2023 inductees and other award winners at its banquet Wednesday, Oct. 12, at the Eden Resort. 

The Hall of Fame board honored Ed Flick as outgoing chairman at its first meeting of 2023.

Flick served as chairman for seven years during a period of tremendous expansion of the organization, as noted by Jack Neal, incoming chairman, and has been a board member since 2012. He will remain on the board.
