No matter the sport, almost any player or coach would be happy with a 12-2 record.

For the young men on the Cocalico boys volleyball team and Coach Dwayne Kieffer (photo below), that was the result from last season, and it was good – but they want to go a little farther in 2026.

“I think the biggest takeaway I can take from last year is just trying to get further in the playoffs this year,” said Anthony Cruz-Amaro (left), a senior libero whom his coach says “dominates the backcourt.”

McCaskey's Anthony Patterson is setting his sights on the school record in the discus this spring.

"I want to break the record of 174 feet in the discus," he told the Lancaster Sports Hall of Fame at LNP | LancasterOnline's Spring Media Day at Penn Medicine Park.

Patterson also throws shot and is going to try javelin as well this season. "I've been throwing since eighth grade at Reynolds. I want to improve my technique," he said.

Amnesty Welch, nickname “Misty,” says her inner spirit is to “do
your best, try your hardest!”

As a freshman on the Columbia girls track team, Misty knows
she will have to “up her game” to compete with the
upperclassmen.

Misty’s races are the sprints -- 100m, 200m and the 4x100m
relay. She has previously run a 13.6 second 100m dash. She wants to
lower her time to help Columbia.

If you’re buying a house, the three most important things are -- wait for it -- “location, location and location.”

If you’re part of the boys volleyball team at Lancaster Mennonite High School, you want to follow the first three rules of Coach Anthony Hernandez (top left) – “communicate, communicate and communicate!”

The next three are equally important, the first-year boys coach says – “hustle, hustle, hustle!”

Ephrata star long distance runner Kyle Reidenbaugh remembers how he got started running.

"It was during Covid. I wanted to get healthy and it was something I could do alone. It was accessible and I kept going," Reidenbaugh said. He also credits his sister for inspiriing him to run track and cross country.

The junior runs the 3200 and 1600 meter races. While he is competitive, Reindenbaugh says it's not cutthroat.

Delaney Hartlaub, Conestoga Valley High School, senior, attack

Q: What’s your origin story with lacrosse?

Hartlaub: “My sister started playing her sophomore year when I was in eighth grade. We had just started our middle school program at CV. So I signed up. It was a low commitment spring sport. I’ve been playing since then. I had done track the year before, and I played soccer when I was younger.”

Donegal’s baseball team has won Section 3 of the Lancaster-Lebanon League the last two seasons.

Andrew Fabian, a senior, has contributed to both past successes and his team’s goal is to repeat the Section 3 title and play deep into states.

Donegal’s coach, Adam Frey, fields a team with five or six returning starters, including Andrew, a two-year starter at second base.

The Georgelis name is a familiar one on the tennis courts at Lancaster Country Day and racking up wins in the Lancaster-Lebanon League.

Michael, the Seection 3 Player of the Year in 2025,  has graduated, but brother Gavin is back, aiming for more team and individual titles.

Gavin was also one of the top singles players in the section and league. His game is unique in that he uses two hands for both his forehand and backhand shots. "It just feels comfortable for me and works," Georgelis said.
